Building a Rainbow…

One of my favorite posters from the 1970s showed hundreds of tiny stick-figure workers building a multi-colored rainbow. Supported by scaffolds, the rainbow was only half-finished—and their were signs of trouble among the workers—but its positive message stuck with me my entire life.

We can make good things happen if we just keep working at it.

Climate change and artificial intelligence are a few of those signs of trouble in a world fashioned by good intentions.

Everyone wants a better life—their own rainbow.

We just haven’t figured out how to build those rainbows without knocking down the whole shebang.

But there are signs of hope…

Renewable energy…consumer eco-consciousness…intentional design… regenerative economies…leveraging AI to teach science… have sprung to life in the 21st century.

These glimmers of hope deserve greater attention—and a bigger chorus.

The COD aims to find those nuggets of hope and report them to you.

It’s the promise of a better world and a more positive vibe in our actions.
